Sunbeams and Daydreams are on my mind...

It's the middle of the winter and the recently longer days have left me dreaming of flowers. Since Calendula is a super helpful herbal sister in our Bodelevy Bumps Be Gone Overnight Smoothing Balm I've been inspired to share more about this sunny flower's super powers.

Calendula is choc full of antioxidants that help repair and add radiance to your skin when used topically, it also promotes collagen production when taken orally, and it's especially beautiful in an afternoon cup of tea.

The bright orange color of Calendula is from the vitamin A related compounds that it contains known as carotenoids. Carotenoids are fat soluble molecules and they include beta-carotene, lutein, and lycopene. Carotenoids can lower inflammation, and stimulate epithelial cell growth to promote cell turnover which is super important when your aim is to repair the skin.

Calendula is beneficial for those of us who spend a lot of time in the sunbeams, it contains many compounds such as terpenoids, quercetin, flavonoids and polyphenols which are antioxidants as well as anti-inflammatory agents.

Studies have shown that calendula can increase collagen production. Collagen is important for plump skin, healthy nails and hair. Here's an easy and refreshing afternoon tea to add to your beauty routine!
